The LPN/RN will provide comprehensive health, wellness and safety services to the employee population in accordance with all applicable company policies, government regulations, nurse practice standards and best practice guidelines. In all areas of practice, the occupational health nurse will act as a resource and an advocate for both employee and company to encourage the attainment of optimal health and well-being within the corporation.
Job Responsibility:
Implements Medical Department operations
Conducting assessment, treatment, referral and recording of occupational and emergent non-occupational injuries/illnesses
Perform medical surveillance and licensing exams
Administering the policies of the occupational medical program
Utilizing the necessary equipment and supplies
Administering the plant's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program
Partnering to place injured workers into modified/light duty assignments
Interacting with on-site and community physicians, nurses and physical therapists
Stay updated on knowledge of federal, state and local laws/regulations
Collaborates with Safety Team and Risk Management
Implements company provided wellness programs
Demonstrates high ethical standards and sustains positive employee relations
Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and multitask
Uses knowledge of Workers' Compensation regulations
Shows the ability to successfully build and maintain productive relationships with Third Party providers
Draws upon regulatory knowledge to ensure program compliance
Utilizes medical skills to manage stressful situations
Requirements:
LPN or Registered Nurse
PN or AS degree in nursing required
AHA or Red Cross CPR/AED certification
Experience practicing nursing within an occupational health or emergency room setting
Strong written and oral communication skills
Sound judgment and ability to manage crisis situations
Knowledge of state Worker's Compensation law, OSHA requirements and other occupational health regulations
Computer proficiency in word and excel
Nice to have:
American Board of Occupational Health Nurses certification (COHN or COHN-S) preferred
Additional certification in areas such as spirometry, audiometry and/or drug test collection may be required
