As a team member, you'll be working in the midst of this beautiful natural setting, keeping the park safe and well-maintained while providing visitors with exceptional experiences through educational, cultural, and recreational activities. Seasonal employment is typically from mid-May to mid-September. Some seasonal positions may begin earlier in the year and/or extend longer into the fall. The actual length of employment depends on the work location and the type of job performed.
Job Responsibility:
Seasonal Visitor Services Associate – Fee Collector: Greet visitors, collect admission fees, and provide excellent customer service
Answer visitor questions and provide pertinent information about the site
Handle monetary transactions, which include fee collection
Responsible for cash register reconciliation
Answer a multi-line telephone system, transferring calls to appropriate personnel
Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry
Perform opening and closing duties, as well as cleaning and maintenance as needed
Provide janitorial services in the building and assist the Fee Supervisor with special projects and events
Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events
Assist with the development and delivery of educational and recreational programs
Seasonal Maintenance Worker: Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, and mowing
Assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation of grounds and buildings, and preventive maintenance
Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, and remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and other public areas
Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles, including light and heavy equipment
Operate various maintenance equipment, including mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment required in daily operations
Utilize various hand and power tools
Follow proper handling and safety procedures when using cleaning chemicals and fuel products encountered in daily operations, including proper Personal Protective Equipment usage
Provide excellent customer service. May interact with the visiting public, answering basic questions
Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events
Assist with the development and delivery of educational and recreational programs
Seasonal Visitor Services Associate- Interpretation: Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service
Answer visitor questions and provide information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest
Perform programs, guided hikes, hands-on activities, and other personal interpretations
Assist with special projects and events
Assist in the creation of social media, outreach, and other non-personal content
Administer, restock, and track program inventory
Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry
Perform opening and closing duties, as well as janitorial services and maintenance as needed
Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be at least 16 years of age
Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks
Good interpersonal skills
Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day
Experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales
Must possess excellent customer service skills
Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work
Basic construction and maintenance knowledge
Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools
Basic safety awareness of equipment use
Must work outdoors in all weather conditions
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds with or without assistance
