Bear River State Park is one of 27 impressive state parks and historic sites in Wyoming. Located in Southwest Wyoming along the I-80 corridor near Evanston, Bear River State Park is one of our state's smaller parks but has an abundance of recreational, educational, and natural resource opportunities for visitors. The primary employment season runs from April through the end of September. These positions may extend longer into the fall. The actual length of employment depends on the demand for services at Bear River State Park.
Job Responsibility:
Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance
Assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation of grounds and buildings
Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, and remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and other areas within the park
Ability to perform basic equipment repair
Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles and equipment
Operate various maintenance equipment
Utilize various hand and power tools
Follow proper handling and safety procedures
Provide excellent customer service to all our visitors
Periodically assist with interpretive and educational programs or events
Occasionally assist with visitor services at the Visitor Center
Ensure visitor needs are professionally met by providing information on Wyoming's cultural and natural resources, history, recreational opportunities, and local, regional, and statewide travel services
Keep the Visitor Center stocked with brochures and other information
Maintain, clean, inspect, and repair the Visitor Center and grounds
Relay supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to maintain the Visitor Center and grounds to the Superintendent
Assist with ordering, tracking, and taking inventory of all retail items and brochures
Assist with educational and interpretive programs and tours
Occasionally, help with park maintenance when needed
Help other state parks and historic sites in our district from time to time during events
Assist with cleaning or feeding/watering live animal exhibits
Assist with the elk and bison program
Assist with interpretive programming and tours for all age groups
Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be at least 18 years of age
Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks
Good interpersonal skills
Experience/ability to operate a Square account and cash register for merchandise, reservations, and permit sales
Must follow proper cash handling procedures
Must possess excellent customer service skills
Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work
Basic construction and maintenance knowledge
Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools
Ability to safely use all vehicles and equipment
Basic knowledge of and ability to operate light equipment such as weed trimmers, mowers, floor buffers, steam cleaners, and other like equipment
Ability to use and understand relevant computer programs used on Square and POS systems for tracking, merchandise and permit sales, and reporting
Nice to have:
Preference will be given to professional applicants with excellent customer service skills
