Glendo State Park in Eastern Wyoming is a 22,000-acre park featuring an abundance of recreational opportunities that attract visitors from across the country. Glendo has a 12,000-acre reservoir popular for water sports and some of the best fishing in the state. The park also has over 500 campsites, 45 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, and archery courses. The success of the park is due to the awesome crew of park employees who work diligently as a team to provide a meaningful experience to visitors. Employees of Glendo State Park are able to learn a variety of career-applicable skills with the opportunity to work outdoors and enjoy the park in their free time. The employment season is typically from mid-May to mid-September. Some seasonal positions may begin earlier in the year and/or extend longer into the fall. The actual length of employment depends on the work location and the type of job performed.
Job Responsibility:
Seasonal Visitor Services Associate – Fee Collector: Greet visitors, collect admission fees, and provide excellent customer service
Answer visitor questions
provide pertinent information about the site
Handle monetary transactions, which include fee collection and gift shop sales
responsible for cash register reconciliation
Responsible for restocking gift shop shelves and tracking inventory
Answer a multi-line telephone system, transfer calls to appropriate personnel
Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry
Perform opening and closing duties, as well as cleaning and maintenance as needed
Provide janitorial services in the building and assist with special projects and events
Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events
Seasonal Maintenance Worker: Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, and mowing
Assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation of grounds and buildings, and in preventive maintenance
Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, and remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and other public areas
Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles and light and heavy equipment
Operate various maintenance equipment, including mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other tools required for daily operations
Utilize various hand and power tools
Follow proper handling and safety procedures for cleaning chemicals and fuel products encountered in daily operations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Provide excellent customer service
May interact with the visiting public, answering basic questions
Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events
Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be at least 16 years of age
Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks
Good interpersonal skills
Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day
Experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales (for Fee Collector)
Must possess excellent customer service skills
Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work
Basic construction and maintenance knowledge (for Maintenance)
Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools (for Maintenance)
Basic safety awareness of equipment use (for Maintenance)
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance
Must work outdoors in all weather conditions
