Job Description:

Under general supervision, the Part-Time Destination Experience Specialist provides comprehensive information about El Paso's hotels, restaurants, and attractions to tourists and residents. The position may not perform all of these, and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed here.

Job Responsibility:

  • Welcome and assist visitors with enthusiasm, providing information about the destination, attractions, and events
  • Offer personalized recommendations based on visitors' interests, ensuring a positive and memorable experience
  • Safely operate the kid-friendly train during events, festivals, and scheduled activities
  • Ensure all passengers, especially children enter, ride, and exit the train safely
  • Maintain constant awareness of surroundings, pedestrians, and other vehicles or equipment
  • Regularly update and maintain accurate information about the destination, attractions, and events on our website, master calendar, and app
  • Ensure that all brochures, maps, and promotional materials are current and readily available for visitors
  • Manage inventory of retail merchandise, ensuring a well-stocked and visually appealing display
  • Collaborate with vendors to order merchandise, considering trends, visitor preferences, and budget constraints
  • Monitor sales and analyze data to make informed decisions about inventory levels and product assortment
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of the Visitor Center
  • Maintain organized records, including visitor statistics, inventory reports, and sales data
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to facilitate efficient operations
  • Seek opportunities to enhance visitor satisfaction and address any issues promptly
  • Track and record retail sales transactions accurately
  • Compile a comprehensive monthly sales report summarizing key metrics, trends, and product performance
  • Provide insights and recommendations for optimizing sales and improving the visitor shopping experience
  • Fulfill mailout requests, inquiry emails, phone calls from visitors and locals
  • Manage and troubleshoot visitor center equipment to include iPads, registers, TVs, and Elo software
  • Duties as assigned by Destination Experience Manager and Director of Tourism Development & Strategic Alliances

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have good knowledge of the city of El Paso and customer service
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to tactfully handle irate tourists and residents
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public
  • Proficient in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail management software (Clover)
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and identify areas for improvement
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
  • Experience with creating and delivering clear and concise reports
  • Driver license
  • Must be able to lift more than 30 lbs. and sit for a long period of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • must drive to the various Visitor Information Centers and offsite events
