Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated team player with demonstrated sea freight coordinating and freight forwarding skills to join our dynamic team in Melbourne. As a Sea Freight Operations Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations, liaising with shipping lines and transport providers, and delivering excellent customer service.

Job Responsibility

  • Process import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists
  • Liaise with shipping lines, overseas Wiseway offices and agents, freight forwarders, carriers, internal and external customers to ensure smooth movement of documentation and freight
  • Coordinate with customers and warehouse to book slots, arrange delivery schedules to/from customers’ premises, depots, and wharfs
  • Prepare documentations for our transport contractors and ensure that all Customs & Quarantine requirements are met
  • Monitor cargo availability and arrange cartage delivery to customers
  • Monitor and follow up empty container status and organise de-hire within the container detention free time
  • Respond to customer enquiries, ensuring a high standard of customer service is provided at all times and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Use relevant systems to produce and control workflow coordination
  • Entering invoices to allow the Accounts Team to make timely payments

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant experience with sea freight experience, within the Freight Forwarding industry or in a similar role
  • Mandarin proficiency is highly desirable
  • Sound knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics
  • Familiarity with Customs and Quarantine procedures
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and shipping logistics
  • Experience with customs clearance and quarantine procedures
  • Experience using CargoWise/EDI system (Preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Solid planning and organisation skills (efficient and a self-starter)
  • Detail oriented with accuracy
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Suite
  • Strong work ethic

  • Prepares shipping documents and Movement Requests for international and domestic shipments between sites and container movements from the Sea Port of Embarkation (POE) to the Sea Port of Debarkation (POD) shipped by surface or sealift
  • Performs Port Handling and Inland Transportation (PHIT) and ensures the subcontractor performs all duties and responsibilities according to the Statement of Work (SOW). Inspects and documents each shipment for contract compliance on a Customer Service Survey form
