Carex is partnering with a insurance industry partner to hire a Scrum Master who will empower Scrum Teams to continually mature and improve the value delivered to the organization. This role focuses on guiding and coaching one to three Scrum teams in Agile/Scrum practices and values, ensuring effective use of the Scrum framework and Agile mindset to drive meaningful outcomes. The Scrum Master serves as a servant leader, fostering a collaborative environment built on responsibility and accountability, supporting the Product Owner in maintaining a robust product backlog, and coaching teams toward improved performance and delivery excellence. This role requires on-site presence in Madison, WI 10 days/month with flexible scheduling.
Job Responsibility:
Support one to two Scrum teams, guiding them in the effective application of Agile/Scrum practices and principles
Deepen and demonstrate core Scrum Master skills while fostering team growth and maturity
Coach teams to strengthen accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and meetings with clear agendas, defined outcomes, and adaptive techniques to ensure productivity
Use powerful questioning and facilitation methods to help teams achieve meaningful results
Assist Product Owners in developing and refining robust, well-prioritized product backlogs
Assess team maturity and implement structured coaching approaches to elevate performance
Leverage metrics to help teams understand impact, improve delivery, and align with organizational objectives
Promote Agile practices within supported teams and key stakeholder groups
Strengthen cross-team collaboration and contribute to organizational Agile advancement
Guide teams in selecting appropriate Agile frameworks based on work type and complexity
Expand and apply knowledge of metrics across multiple Agile frameworks
Create visibility into team work through tools and techniques beyond traditional project management software
Support and mentor Associate Scrum Masters and other team members as needed
Requirements:
2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master
In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies and the Scrum framework
Demonstrated ability to coach teams in at least one Agile framework using data-driven insights
Experience facilitating group sessions and mentoring individuals in both team and one-on-one settings
Ability to thrive in ambiguous, evolving environments
Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to guide teams toward higher performance
Experience using Agile management tools to create and maintain backlogs and manage sprints
Ability to utilize metrics to improve team and organizational outcomes
Conflict resolution skills that promote healthy team dynamics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to build transparency and visibility into work using tools and practical techniques
