Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
Current NMC/ODP registration with no restrictions
Qualification in Ophthalmology or Peri operative care
One year or more ophthalmology surgical theatre experience
Computer and IT skills i.e. good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Awareness of responsibilities in relation to NMC Professional Code of Conduct
Awareness of CQC standards and requirements

Job Responsibility

Participate in all aspects of the Ophthalmic Surgical pathway
Provide excellent care to all patients
Provide skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
May include peri-operative and post-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite
Assist with minor operations
Carry out a full range of registered healthcare professional duties including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient's condition and care
Maintain privacy and dignity of all patients
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by provision of appropriate surgical instrumentation and equipment
Take responsibility to ensure all surgical equipment is disposed of correctly including decontamination and sterilisation of reusable equipment
Ensure all documentation for traceability is effectively completed
