Job Description:

Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced scrub nurse to join our amazing and dedicated team. You'll be required to work 27.5 hours a week across 3 days and must be flexible to work in Preston and Manchester.

Job Responsibility:

  • Participate in all aspects of the Ophthalmic Surgical pathway
  • Provide excellent care to all patients
  • Provide skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
  • May include peri-operative and post-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite
  • Assist with minor operations
  • Carry out a full range of registered healthcare professional duties including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient's condition and care
  • Maintain privacy and dignity of all patients
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by provision of appropriate surgical instrumentation and equipment
  • Take responsibility to ensure all surgical equipment is disposed of correctly including decontamination and sterilisation of reusable equipment
  • Ensure all documentation for traceability is effectively completed

Requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
  • Current NMC/ODP registration with no restrictions
  • Qualification in Ophthalmology or Peri operative care
  • One year or more ophthalmology surgical theatre experience
  • Computer and IT skills i.e. good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Awareness of responsibilities in relation to NMC Professional Code of Conduct
  • Awareness of CQC standards and requirements
