The screening service takes blood from pregnant women following their first ultrasound scan and from fathers of babies for genetic screening. The successful applicant will also be responsible for ensuring results are available for all patients bled. We are looking for enthusiastic and vibrant people to join our team.
Job Responsibility:
Assist screening midwives in the delivery of the national Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes
Perform phlebotomy services for the Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Programmes, routine tests & ad-hoc requests
Assist in tracking patient results and monitoring screening fail-safes
Perform phlebotomy services in the antenatal clinic setting including combined and quadruple tests and non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT)
Prepare the clinic for the following day by checking results
Liaise with external laboratories if outstanding test results are found
Assist with the antenatal and newborn (ANNB) screening failsafe
Liaise with other departments to ensure tests are dispatched and results are available
Maintain accurate records of all care provision
Provide administrative support to midwives including filing and sending results
Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 in Health Care OR equivalent experience
Commitment to undertake the necessary training
Phlebotomy experience
Previous experience of working with members of the public
