Job Description

The Scrap and Raw Materials Supervisor will provide expertise in managing operations related to scrap materials, alloys, and electrodes to meet production schedule demands. In this role, the successful candidate will ensure quality standards of raw materials and conformance to specifications within our steel-making process.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee and manage the scrap inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and efficient handling
  • Conduct visual inspections of scrap materials to verify quantity, quality, and adherence to specifications
  • Ensure all raw materials are correctly labeled and sorted into appropriate scrap categories for proper disposal
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of raw materials such as alloys and electrodes to support uninterrupted production
  • Monitor inventory levels to proactively identify and address potential shortages that could impact production timelines
  • Receive incoming raw materials and accurately record inventory data within the company’s inventory management system
  • Classify raw materials based on customer specifications and formulate material charges using established charge design protocols
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company policies
  • Complete all other duties as assigned in support of plant operations and performance

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience within a heavy industrial work environment or similar field would be considered an asset
  • Scrap or raw material handling experience would be considered an asset
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve issues effectively, delegate tasks appropriately, and work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting
  • Provides clear direction and support to team members, fostering a productive and accountable work environment
  • Proficient in computer applications with a strong numerical aptitude
  • Strong organizational, leadership and planning skills. Demonstrates the ability to meet and manage competing deadlines and handle multiple priorities/demands
  • Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Communicates information clearly and promptly to ensure alignment across teams and departments
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage tasks and measure performance to ensure operational goals are met
