As a Scientist, In Vitro Pharmacology within the Institute of Medicine (IOM) at Altos Labs, you will join a dynamic environment where leading research labs collaborate directly with industry scientists. This is a hands-on laboratory position focused on the development and execution of cell-based and biochemical assays, and complex in vitro models, contributing to our drug discovery campaigns across a diverse portfolio of early exploratory and drug-discovery stage projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving our mission and making a significant impact in aging/rejuvenation biology and drug discovery.
Job Responsibility:
Design, optimize, execute, and troubleshoot a range of assays, including cellular, biochemical, and complex in vitro models, to advance the drug discovery pipeline
Validate drug targets and define mechanisms of action (MoA) through robust in vitro pharmacology strategies, and support a diverse portfolio of early exploratory and drug-discovery stage projects
Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to drive project strategy and key decision-making
Contemporaneously document all experimental methods, raw data, and results in an electronic laboratory notebook, ensuring reproducibility and data integrity
Partner with Institute of Science (IOS) labs and internal cross-functional groups to discover and validate novel drug targets
Collaborate with Technical Operations (Process Development and Analytical Development) to optimize processes and assays, ensuring smooth alignment with downstream operations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant scientific and technological advancements
Requirements:
PhD in Pharmacology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in a drug discovery and development setting
Strong demonstrated experience conceptualizing and performing cellular, biochemical, and complex in vitro models with a background in relevant laboratory techniques and methods
Ability to independently design experiments and generate robust, reproducible, and generalizable results
Proven track record of elucidating complex biological mechanisms
Record of high productivity and ability to complete work in a timely manner
Proficient in documenting experimental design, analysis and interpretation of data in an electronic lab notebook
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Nice to have:
Experience working on cellular and complex in vitro models of diverse age-related conditions
Expertise in brightfield and confocal microscopy techniques and experience with high-content screening instruments and image analysis
Cell engineering for the development of cellular models and reporter assays
Experience designing, implementing, and validating automated workflows for complex assays, ensuring high reproducibility and robustness
Proficiency in laboratory automation platforms (e.g., liquid handlers) and expertise in writing scripts (e.g., Python, R) to automate data acquisition, processing, normalization, and visualization
Experience working across diverse therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, biotherapeutics, nucleic acid therapeutics, and gene therapy
Strong experience in the field of aging/rejuvenation biology
