Job Description

Airports and Travel is one of the fastest growing segments of Uber. We focus on creating magical end-to-end experiences for Uber travelers - be it a short business trip, or a long vacation. We own all aspects of traveling user’s experience, from pricing and promos, to tailored experience at each airport, to unique in-app travel experiences. We are looking for a Data Scientist who can deep dive into data and produce insights that can guide the development of the next generation of products for Uber travelers. You will be a thought leader who will work with product managers, engineers and fellow data scientists to shape the future of Uber travel products. You will work in a fast paced environment and use planet scale data to deliver planet scale impact. This role will need a deep understanding of data, strong communication skills, and solid knowledge of experimentation.

Job Responsibility

  • Solve open-ended and ambitious business problems using data (e.g. how can we increase Uber Eats usage for travelers by 50%? What is the biggest pain point that reduces Uber usage while traveling internationally?)
  • Develop data driven hypotheses, run experiments to test them, and communicate results to your stakeholders and business leaders to shape business strategy
  • Define metrics that best measure business health, and monitor them to ensure strong execution
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product, engineering and operations to drive a culture of data driven decision making

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or M.S. degree in Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field (e.g., Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science with a strong modeling focus)
  • Mininum 2 years experience in improving products, understanding the user journey and extracting user behavior insights from large datasets
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL for exploratory data analysis and modeling
  • Excellent analytical skills, with experience extracting user behavior insights from large datasets
  • Foundational knowledge in at least one of the following areas: machine learning, statistics, optimization, causal inference, or economics
  • Exceptional communication skills across technical, non-technical, and executive audiences

Nice to have

  • Mininum 3 years of relevant industry experience as a Product Data Scientist, Applied Scientist, or equivalent
  • Experience in statistical methods, causal inference from observational data, and choice modeling
  • Experience in building data pipelines, designing metrics and tables, dashboards, etc.
  • Experienced in using AI to hypercharge productivity and delivering 10x impact
  • Prior experience in rideshare or a related domain (marketplaces or gig economy etc.)

What we offer

  • Eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program
  • May be offered an equity award & other types of comp
  • All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan
  • Eligible for various benefits
