This role requires a solid understanding of laboratory procedures and, under general supervision, the ability to perform complex analytical testing. The Scientist I conducts routine and non-routine sample preparation and analytical procedures to quantitatively measure compounds across a variety of formulations and rheological matrices in support of stability and analytical testing programs. The role includes training in the routine operation, maintenance, and theoretical principles of analytical instrumentation, as well as adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and applicable regulatory guidelines.
Job Responsibility:
Runs laboratory equipment as trained
Prepares product blends under supervision
Documents laboratory data in notebook and spreadsheets
Performs calculations as directed and in teams
Performs a variety of specific tasks under close supervision which involve a series of detailed steps
Collects and evaluates data
Reviews, interprets, and analyzes data for technical, quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
Provides straightforward solutions to problems using readily available clear and direct references
Assists Scientists/Researchers on projects
Run product demonstration to customers under direction
Write reports summarizing data
Suggests improvements to work processes and test procedures, proactively communicate with formulators, peers, and managers
Maintain instruments through routine calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, accuracy, and method development
Support daily housekeeping, chemical inventory management, and waste disposal in compliance with safety regulations
Demonstrate a strong commitment to laboratory safety, including proper use of PPE, safe chemical handling, and adherence to OSHA/EPA regulations
Participate in safety training, hazard communication, and emergency preparedness drills
Identify potential hazards, report unsafe conditions, and actively contribute to a culture of safety
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies, maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment

Requirements:
Minimum B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field required
Experience in lab operations and EHS program management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Multi-tasker and problem-solver
Attention to detail and desire to complete quality work products
Ability to work well with others and comprehend instruction quickly
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) a plus
Analytical laboratory environment requiring lifting, standing for extended periods, and repetitive tasks
