Permanent SEN Teacher - Specialist SEMH SchoolScience Specialism. The Vision: Science Without Ceilings. Are you an experienced Science educator who believes that every student-regardless of their sensory or communication needs-deserves to explore the wonders of the natural world? In September 2025, we launched a brand-new, purpose-built secondary school in Chaldon for young people (ages 11-16) with Autism, social communication, and emotional regulation needs. We are looking for a Science Teacher to teach in our lab and help students investigate, experiment, and achieve in a supportive, high-resource environment. The Role: Innovation & Discovery. As a founding member of our academic team, you will have the unique opportunity to design a Science curriculum that is both academically rigorous and sensory-conscious.
Job Responsibility:
Bespoke Pedagogy: Deliver a curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum, but adapted for students who may have multiple learning difficulties or present with challenging behaviours
Clinical Collaboration: Work alongside our supernumerary multi-disciplinary team to integrate sensory processing and emotional regulation into your practical and theoretical lessons
Small Squads, High Support: Benefit from small class sizes and high levels of classroom support, allowing you to focus on individual progress and EHCP targets
A "Start-Up" Spirit: Be part of the journey from day one, helping to establish the culture, safety protocols, and excitement of a brand-new Science department
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
SEND Expertise: Experience working with neurodivergent learners or a deep interest in Autism-led education
Safety & Structure: The ability to provide clear lesson structures that maintain pace and motivation while managing a specialised learning environment
Flexibility: A willingness to "lend a hand" and diversify as we grow this new school community
