Job Responsibility
Lesson Planning: Designing and delivering high-quality, structured Science lessons in line with curriculum guidelines
Student Assessment: Regular marking, constructive feedback, and formal assessments of student coursework and exams
Laboratory Safety: Enforcing strict health and safety protocols during practical scientific experiments
Progress Tracking: Monitoring and recording student progress, identifying those who need extra interventions
Parental Engagement: Preparing for and attending parent's evenings to discuss student development and academic targets
Curriculum Development: Collaborating with colleagues to create innovative resources and schemes of work
Behaviour Management: Implementing the school's behaviour policy fairly and consistently to ensure a respectful environment
Form Tutor Duties: Fulfilling pastoral responsibilities as a form tutor, supporting the holistic well-being of students
Exam Preparation: Guiding and coaching Key Stage 4 students through GCSE examinations and practical assessments
Extracurricular Support: Contributing to the wider school community through science clubs, trips, or revision sessions
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent, recognised UK teaching qualification
A current Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one)
Up-to-date knowledge of the current UK National Curriculum for Science
