Job Responsibility

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, practical-based lessons that meet the diverse needs of all pupils and align with the National Curriculum
  • Instill a genuine love for scientific inquiry, promoting analytical thinking, experimental skills, and data analysis
  • Rigorously assess, record, and report on pupils' progress, providing constructive, subject-specific feedback to support their continuous improvement
  • Collaborate effectively with department colleagues and technicians to maintain a safe, stimulating, and well-managed laboratory environment
  • Manage a dynamic classroom environment, maintaining excellent behaviour and upholding the high standards and ethos of the school

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant Science subject (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) are essential
  • Proven experience teaching Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with Key Stage 5 experience being highly desirable)
  • A naturally enthusiastic and practical teaching style, with the ability to manage and motivate large classes of students during experiments
  • Excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to professional development
  • The ability to quickly establish strong, professional, and trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
  • A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly)
