A fantastic opportunity is available for a dynamic, highly effective Qualified Science Teacher to join the dedicated faculty at a high-achieving Secondary School located in Bury St Edmunds. This role involves teaching the full Science curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE), with the potential to teach your specialist subject at Key Stage 5 (A-Level) if desired.
Job Responsibility:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging Science lessons to students across KS3 and KS4
If applicable, teach A-Level Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students, providing timely and constructive feedback
Maintain a positive, orderly, and well-managed learning environment in line with the school's behaviour policy
Actively participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and the school's performance management cycle
Contribute to the extra-curricular life of the department (e.g., Science clubs, trips, or revision sessions)
Uphold the school's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
A relevant Science-related degree
Proven experience teaching Science across KS3 and KS4 is required
Experience teaching KS5 is highly desirable
A strong record of achieving excellent student progress and attainment in Science
Outstanding classroom presence and effective behaviour management skills
Deep commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up-to-date with curriculum changes
Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
Must satisfy all relevant safeguarding and background checks
Nice to have:
Experience teaching KS5
A-Level Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) specialism
