Fuel Discovery in a Culture of Innovation - Science Teacher | KS3 & KS4 | Premier Southend Academy. Position: Temporary (Fixed-Term). Salary: £140 - £220 per day (Paid to Scale). Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Start Date: Immediate / Next Term. Are you a scientist with a gift for sparking curiosity? We are looking for an inspiring Teacher of Science to join a forward-thinking secondary academy in the vibrant SS2 area of Southend-on-Sea. We aren't just looking for someone to explain the laws of physics or biological processes; we want an educator who can cultivate scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a sense of wonder in every student. Our academy is celebrated for its commitment to both academic rigour and staff well-being. With a firm but fair approach to behaviour, we ensure that our labs are environments where high-level learning and safe practical experimentation can take place without distraction.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver high-quality, practical-led Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Bridge the gap between theory and the real world, showing students how Science shapes their future and the global environment
  • Act as a Form Tutor, playing a vital role in the pastoral care and character development of our young people
  • Work within a dynamic department that values collaboration, sharing best practices to ensure every student reaches their potential

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong degree in a Science-related field
  • A determined and thoughtful practitioner who believes that socio-economic background is no barrier to scientific excellence
  • The ability to manage a classroom with high expectations while maintaining a compassionate and supportive atmosphere
  • A professional ready to inspire the next generation of doctors, engineers, and researchers
