Job Description:

Passionate Science Teacher (SEN) Needed for a Unique Independent School in West Hoathly, Near Haywards Heath, Sussex. An independent specialist school in the beautiful West Hoathly area is seeking a creative and resilient Science Teacher to join our committed team. We provide a supportive and holistic learning environment for students aged 7-19 who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, social communication difficulties, and a range of other associated learning needs. All our students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Job Responsibility:

  • planning, delivering, and assessing an engaging and appropriately differentiated Science curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our students
  • foster a love of scientific inquiry and exploration, adapting your teaching methods to ensure all students can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • essential experience and a strong understanding of working with students with SEN, particularly those with SEMH, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and communication difficulties
  • can create and deliver imaginative and engaging Science lessons tailored to individual student needs and abilities
  • resilient, patient, and possesses excellent behaviour management skills, using a positive and restorative approach
  • strong team player, able to work effectively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other colleagues
  • committed to our school's values of mutual respect, compassion, responsibility, integrity, resilience, creativity, and innovation
  • enthusiastic about contributing to a nurturing school community where the personal development of students is paramount
  • can inspire a curiosity for science and relate it to the everyday lives and experiences of our students
