A welcoming and ambitious mainstream primary school in Romford is seeking a dedicated Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This full-time position is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about science, education, and inspiring young learners. As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, helping to develop their understanding of science, investigation skills, and curiosity about the world around them.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting pupils during science lessons and practical learning activities
  • Delivering targeted intervention sessions to individuals and small groups
  • Assisting with STEM-related learning opportunities and enrichment activities
  • Supporting pupils who require additional academic support
  • Helping children develop confidence in scientific thinking, problem-solving, and enquiry-based learning
  • Assisting teachers in preparing engaging learning resources and classroom activities
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Supporting wider classroom learning across the curriculum.

Requirements

  • A Science degree from a UK university, such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Natural Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related subject
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for education and child development
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude
  • Russell Group graduates are particularly encouraged to apply.

Nice to have

Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
