Job Description

Justteachers is recruiting for a dedicated Secondary School Support Worker to join a supportive school in Rochdale from April 2026 on a long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping pupils with additional needs and contributing to their wellbeing, safety, and learning. The school promotes teamwork and is committed to ongoing professional development. As a TA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils who require additional physical, emotional, and practical assistance. This includes providing personal care, assisting with mobility needs, and using safe manual handling techniques. You will work closely with teaching and support staff to create an inclusive environment that enables all pupils to access learning and thrive.

Job Responsibility

  • Support pupils with personal care needs, including hygiene routines and dignity-focused assistance
  • Use safe and effective manual handling techniques to support pupils with mobility or physical needs
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering learning activities and adapting resources when required
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support to help pupils engage in lessons
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing to the teaching team
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet individual pupil needs
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment

Requirements

  • Experience working in a school setting, ideally across Key Stages
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
