Job Responsibility:
Oversee all financial management including budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting
Support the Headteacher and Governors with financial planning and strategic decision-making
Manage HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, contracts, and safer recruitment compliance
Lead on premises management, including health & safety, maintenance, and contractor oversight
Ensure full compliance with statutory, safeguarding, and audit requirements
Oversee procurement and ensure best value across all services and contracts
Manage and support administrative and office-based staff
Maintain and develop operational systems, including use of Arbor MIS
Act as a key liaison with external agencies, auditors, suppliers, and local authority contacts
Contribute to senior leadership discussions and school improvement planning where appropriate
Requirements:
Proven experience as a School Business Manager or in a senior school operations/finance role
Strong understanding of school budgeting, finance, and resource management
Experience of HR administration and safer recruitment processes
Confident user of Excel, Word, and school management systems (Arbor preferred)
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
Professional, discreet, and solution-focused approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
Nice to have:
Experience within a maintained school, academy, or education trust
Knowledge of premises, facilities, and health & safety compliance in schools
Experience working directly with Governors or Senior Leadership Teams
Previous involvement in audits, financial scrutiny, or Ofsted preparation
Relevant qualification in finance, business management, or school leadership
