Performs the duties of a School District Clerk as specified in Sec. 2121 of NYS Ed. Law and serves as the Clerk to the Board of Education. Full-time Equivalency: 1.0 (38½ hours per week).
Job Responsibility:
Manages all activities related to Board of Education meetings and work sessions, including developing the agenda, preparing and distributing board packets
Develops and maintains websites and social media related to the Board of Education
Attends Board of Education meetings and work sessions, takes notes, and prepares official minutes
Maintains the official minutes and records of the Board of Education and provides certification for legal use
Prepares documentation, maintains official records, and coordinates School District Election
Assists board members in making travel arrangements
Maintains and annually updates the Policy and Procedures handbook for the Board of Education
Serves as Notary Public to the Board and district staff
Provides administrative assistance to the Superintendent
Drafts correspondences, communications, and memoranda for the Board and Superintendent
Serves as the interface between community and School Board members on correspondence and inquiries
Gathers information, writes, edits, and designs district reports, press releases, calendars, and publications
Requirements:
Proven ability to understand and interpret complex written and verbal instructions
Exceptional level of professionalism with meticulous attention to detail
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a four-year degree
Must possess or obtain a Notary Public license in the State of New York within one year of appointment and maintain it for the duration of employment
Ability to interact effectively with students and families from diverse cultures
Ability to work long hours, including evenings, nights, and occasionally weekends
Ability to consistently perform with a high degree of accuracy and independently solve complex issues
Ability to exhibit exceptional level of professionalism, tact, and courtesy
Ability to maintain exceptional level of confidentiality
Ability to contribute to an inclusive, diverse, and respectful environment
