The counselor for the Summer Career Exploration Camp provides developmentally appropriate interdisciplinary career exploration experiences for students entering grades 5 and 6. Counselors will collaborate with teachers and community partners to plan and implement interdisciplinary learning experiences for students entering grades 5 and 6. Counselor will work with teachers to coordinate and support students to prepare a culminating student showcase and family event on the last day of camp.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and facilitate completion of career interest inventories and other age appropriate career exploration tools
Plan and deliver daily standard-based lessons to support career exploration in alignment with NYS requirements for grades 5 and 6
Coordinate and support students to prepare a culminating student showcase and family event on the last day of camp
Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes strong student engagement
Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, and multiple community partners to create a robust camp experience for students
Participate in required curriculum planning, orientation sessions and staff meetings
Maintain accurate records of attendance
Follow all program policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
Requirements:
Valid NYS teaching certification in school counseling
Experience in K-12 setting
Nice to have:
Experience at the elementary and/or middle level is preferred
