The School Coordinator plays a senior administrative role within the School of Creative and Performing Arts and the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Tasmania. Working closely with the Business Manager, Head of School and Director Conservatorium, the position ensures the smooth running of day‑to‑day activities while also supporting strategic initiatives and stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and improve daily administrative processes, making sure they run efficiently and align with university-wide systems and expectations. A key part of the role is leading continuous improvement efforts - streamlining processes, reducing duplication, fostering a safety-first culture, and integrating better ways of working across the schools
Support the implementation and monitoring of strategic plans and priorities. Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, prepares key documents and reports, and provides informed administrative advice to help guide decision-making
Support school-level budgeting, financial planning, and reporting. Work closely with the Business Manager and finance teams to ensure spending and planning align with operational needs and strategic goals
Support strong communication across staff and stakeholders. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams, foster cohesion, and contribute to a positive, safe, respectful workplace culture
The School Coordinator manages projects from start to finish, ensuring outcomes are effectively embedded into ongoing operations
Requirements:
A combination of education, training, and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position
Demonstrated senior level administration experience within a complex organisation environment including analytical and communication/presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills, including the capability to effectively liaise with all levels of the organisation and to work in a flexible and collaborative manner with stakeholders towards effective delivery of successful outcomes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to devise creative and effective solutions and plans for a range of stakeholders
Demonstrated commitment to continuous self and operational improvement, with the initiative to lead and implement change that achieve improvements or efficiencies
Proven commitment to service-oriented values and ethical standards both in the provision of services and in working relationships
A high level of computer literacy, including competence in Office 365 applications, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, and in other database operations
