Job Description:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to join a dedicated site team in the Manchester area. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong "can-do" attitude and a background in trades, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students and staff.

Job Responsibility:

  • Site Security: Responsibility for the opening and closing of school premises, ensuring all areas are secure
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out essential DIY tasks and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, joinery, and painting
  • Health & Safety: Performing regular site inspections, fire alarm testing, and ensuring walkways are clear and safe
  • Grounds Upkeep: General maintenance of outdoor areas, including litter picking and seasonal tasks (e.g., gritting during winter)
  • Contractor Liaison: Assisting external contractors during site visits and ensuring works are completed safely

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a trade (Joinery, Plumbing, or general Building Maintenance) is highly preferred
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check is essential
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred
  • A punctual and dependable approach, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with school leadership, staff, and pupils
