Job Description:

Randstad Education is currently recruiting for School Caretakers for a variety of roles across Merseyside. Previous experience in a similar role is essential for this opportunity. Shift patterns vary depending on the individual requirements of each school.

Job Responsibility:

  • Site Security: Responsibility for the opening and closing of school premises, ensuring all areas are secure
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out essential DIY tasks and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, joinery, and painting
  • Health & Safety: Performing regular site inspections, fire alarm testing, and ensuring walkways are clear and safe
  • Grounds Upkeep: General maintenance of outdoor areas, including litter picking and seasonal tasks (e.g., gritting during winter)
  • Contractor Liaison: Assisting external contractors during site visits and ensuring works are completed safely

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a School Caretaker or in a similar role
  • Enhanced Child DBS (or willingness to apply)

  • Perform basic grounds maintenance (sweeping paths, clearing leaves, gritting in winter)
  • Keep maintenance logs up to date and report larger issues to management or contractors
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of key areas such as entrances, corridors and outdoor spaces
