Are you ready to play a key role in supporting students' educational journeys through effective attendance management? This school in Waterbeach is part of a dynamic and inclusive community dedicated to providing exceptional educational experiences. Their mission is to create a supportive environment where every pupil can excel academically, socially and emotionally to achieve their full potential. We are currently seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join the team. This vital role will involve monitoring and recording student attendance, liaising with parents and carers, and working closely with staff to ensure high attendance rates. This is a full time role and you will be expected to work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Job Responsibility:

  • Monitoring and recording daily attendance and punctuality of students
  • Following up on absences and lateness with parents/carers and ensuring all reasons for absences are documented
  • Working closely with the senior leadership team to address attendance issues and develop strategies to improve attendance rates
  • Producing regular attendance reports for staff, governors and the local authority
  • Liaising with external agencies, such as education welfare officers, to support students with persistent attendance issues
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records in accordance with school policies and legal requirements

Requirements:

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with parents, students and staff
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in using attendance management systems and Microsoft Office software
  • A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is essential
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to complete a new DBS
  • Relevant professional experience with 2 recent professional references

Nice to have:

Experience in a similar role or within an educational setting is desirable but not essential
