Our client, a utility provider located in Green Mountain, San Antonio, is seeking a Scheduler to join their team. This is a 2-year contract role and fully onsite Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM –5:00 PM. This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations and long-term efficiency by managing and coordinating workflows across engineering, construction, and operations teams. The Scheduler is responsible for ensuring work requests-including design, maintenance, emergency response, and customer-driven projects-are scheduled through completion in alignment with customer deadlines and service commitments.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and manage construction schedules for internal and contractor crews
Create preliminary schedules for projects in design phases to provide workload visibility
Receive, create, and manage job packages for planned and emergency work
Ensure schedules align with customer-requested timelines and commitments
Review design sketches to determine resource needs and estimated labor hours
Coordinate and secure necessary permits (CoSA, TX-DOT, 811 locates, water locates, etc.)
Monitor and adjust crew workloads to optimize efficiency and productivity
Dispatch work using systems such as Service Suite, Mobile Data, and Work Manager
Track job progress, document delays, and maintain accurate records for reporting
Sequence work orders appropriately to ensure smooth project execution
Input outage information into GIS systems for customer communication
Run daily scheduling and workload reports
Support additional administrative tasks such as timesheet review, invoice processing, and work order tracking
Respond to internal and external inquiries and coordinate with field crews as needed
Participate in team meetings and provide backup support for other Schedulers
Assist during storm events as a Wire Down Manager (volunteer basis)
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams
Nice to have:
Prior scheduling or dispatching experience
Experience with Service Suite (Mobile Data System), CGI Work Manager, and/or SAP
Familiarity with utility construction practices and crew workflows
Ability to read and interpret GIS designs
Experience working in a utility or infrastructure environment
