As a Software Architect with focus on Mission Planning for ground systems, you will be part of a team based in Friedrichshafen supporting our integrated national space mission project teams. You will develop and optimize the architecture for mission planning, specify and integrate hardware and software components, and configure systems for the efficient planning and execution of satellite missions. Beside these operational activities, you will contribute to our transformation plan that has the vision to become national champion for high-performance Ground-Space Mission Solutions. You will work on concrete operational tasks while capitalising return of experience for future secure space solution improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Definition and design of satellite ground segments focusing on mission planning software, utilizing modern methods (Scrum, Model Based Systems Engineering)
Requirements analysis and architecture definition for ground segments regarding: mission planning systems, scheduling, resource management, and interfaces to other ground segment components
Design trade-offs and interface management: evaluation and optimization of design decisions, identification of internal and external interfaces, creation of interface control documents (ICD)
Specification of software elements and redundancy concepts for mission planning systems
Contribution to the definition of ground segment operation concepts and training
Cost estimates for ground segment developments and operations related to mission planning
Support in system development, AIV (Assembly, Integration, Verification) with a focus on mission planning software
Contributions to proposals, studies, and research and development activities related to mission planning
Technical management for the procurement of software components for mission planning systems
Interdisciplinary collaboration: Space Segment Engineering, Performance Engineering, Operations Engineering, and other relevant teams
Requirements:
completed university degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification
more than 5 years of professional experience in software development (agile development, Linux environments, DevOps, cloud platforms like Kubernetes)
focus on mission planning or related fields
experience in designing and integrating software solutions for mission planning systems
knowledge in infrastructure design and integration
experience with RedHat and RedHat OpenShift (a plus)
knowledge of processes and standards in the aerospace industry (e.g., ECSS, CCSDS)
interest and ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new technologies and methods in mission planning
experience working on classified projects (an advantage)
experience in managing technical stakeholders in the field of mission planning (an advantage)
good communication and presentation skills
