Job Responsibility
Develop, test, modernize, and sustain secure and resilient network capabilities that support critical defense operations
Use skills in lab automation, network design, architecture, Layer 2/3 technologies, and system interoperability to improve reliability, availability, and performance across mission‑focused environments
Contribute to engineering efforts, including implementation planning, technical reviews, test activities, and upgrades supporting enterprise‑wide modernization
Apply knowledge in routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, gateway protocol, and virtual routing and forwarding
Help establish automation practices and procedures in a DoD lab environment
Requirements
2+ years of experience with network configuration, troubleshooting, or engineering support
2+ years of experience supporting engineering implementation planning, sustainment engineering, or technical reviews
2+ years of experience with routing and switching technologies and Layer 2/3 network protocols
2+ years of experience developing and managing lab automation solutions for testing, data management, and data analysis
2+ years of experience developing repeatable test workflows
Knowledge of network design and architecture, OSI model concepts, transport layers, and system interoperability
Ability to interpret network diagrams, engineering documentation, and lab test outputs
Knowledge of network security technologies and firewall implementations
Knowledge of Python and its applicability to scripting, automation, data management and analysis, or visualization
Secret clearance
HS diploma or GED
Nice to have
2+ years of experience conducting network health assessments or supporting modernization efforts
2+ years of experience with automation of network diagraming and writing and generating batch files
2+ years of experience generating mission packages through a satellite simulator
2+ years of experience with network modeling and simulation
Knowledge of gateway protocols, virtual routing and forwarding, or optical networking
Knowledge of mission‑aligned enterprise networking standards and emerging technologies
Ability to identify improvements for network resiliency, capacity, or security
Top Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Cyber, or a related field
