Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SAR/Optical Payload Processing Engineer to join our team developing advanced Earth Observation/Ground Segment systems. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in SAR data processing and a strong interest in extending their expertise into the optical image processing domain, which is the core of our team’s work. In this role, you will both contribute directly to optical payload processing and oversee/manage SAR-related activities carried out by our subcontractors, ensuring requirements are well defined and solutions are technically sound.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and optimize algorithms for optical payload data processing
  • Collaborate with the team on calibration, validation, and quality assessment of optical imagery
  • Provide technical leadership in SAR mission requirements and processing workflows
  • Manage and coordinate SAR subcontractors, ensuring delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Act as the SAR point of contact within the team, bridging optical and radar mission needs
  • Support system engineering activities across payload and ground segment design

Requirements

  • University degree in computer science, remote sensing, space engineering, or related fields
  • Proven experience in SAR data processing (algorithms, calibration, interferometry, or related)
  • Understanding of optical image processing principles, or strong motivation to expand into this area
  • Proficiency in programming (Python or similar)
  • Familiarity with EO data formats and standards (GeoTIFF, SAFE, HDF5)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD process and good programming practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Nice to have

  • Experience managing subcontractors or external partners in technical projects
  • Background in ESA, EC, or other international space projects
  • Familiarity with EO processing toolkits (GDAL, Rasterio, OpenCV, QGIS)
