The Sanitor will be responsible for safely operating and cleaning equipment as assigned and of handling chemicals to sanitize production equipment and clean the production area, while following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). A Sanitation Technician may be required to perform minor disassembly and assembly of equipment in order to facilitate the cleaning process. Essential functions include ensuring plant sanitary conditions according to established food safety and quality standards. When any deficiency in requirements occur, it is the responsibility of the Sanitation Technician to take appropriate action and inform the appropriate personnel.
Job Responsibility:
Disassemble, clean and sanitize production machinery, equipment, tables, bins, pans, utensils and any other items utilized within the production process, using a variety of equipment, including high pressure water hoses
Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all floors, walls, ceilings, structures, drains, vents, evaporators, light fixtures, etc. within production and support areas
Ensure proper care of equipment during the cleaning process, including covering control boxes and critical components to prevent water infiltration and safe transportation and storage of equipment
Follow all safety guidelines, including Chemical Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), reporting unsafe conditions, and immediately reporting any near miss, injury, or accident
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Sanitation Practices (GSP)
Handle equipment and chemicals in accordance with company, government and safety data sheet guidelines
Assist with other Sanitation work as needed
Requirements:
A High School Diploma or GED required
Experience in a food manufacturing plant is preferred
Good communication skills (reading, writing and verbal) are essential to interface with co-workers, Team Leaders and Managers
Must be willing to work together with co-workers as part of a team
Must be self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from freezing to sub-freezing (coolers, freezers, etc.)
Must be able to perform physical demands including moving about on foot, bending, using hands and fingers, and eye, hand and foot coordination
