The Sanitation worker oversees cleaning production equipment, machines, and work areas in food processing facilities. They are responsible for handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, preparing sanitizers, preparing chemical concentrations, handling and storing the chemicals, and managing chemical accidents. Sanitation Workers work alone or with a team but collaborate extensively with other department staff to ensure that food safety and workspace cleanliness are being implemented.
Job Responsibility:
Collect all containers and utensils
Cleaning and sanitizing equipment using approved chemicals
Ensure all containers and utensils are properly sanitized before further use
Clean production equipment, tables, table legs, carts, and storage trays are cleaned properly before use
Clean production floor, storage areas, dishwashing area, shipping area, warehouse area and take out the trash
Keep cupboards and storage area clean and organized
Separating recyclables such as glass, paper and plastic
Clean production walls and floors
Wash production floor mats daily
Ensure chemicals, supplies, and tools are stocked and available
Properly, accurately and timely complete all sanitation documentation
Empty trash and recycling all throughout the facility
Clean the interior of the buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows and walls
Vacuum carpets, mops floors and wipe up spills
Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools, and phones
Communicating orally to all departments, management, quality assurance personnel, and government inspectors
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Reading chemical labels or Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to learn how to properly handle chemicals they will be using
Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
Ensure all scheduled cleaning processes are completed correctly, legibly and in a timely manner
Make sure the facility is clean and meets all safety requirements
Complete all required quality and food safety training
Ensure doors are locked after hours
Requirements:
Minimum grade 12
Relative experience
Reading- High School English
Writing- High School English
Math- High School
Basic Computer Skills
Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment
Skills to make minor repairs (paint restoration, drywall repair)
Must be able to work in Cold environment
Lifting, Bending and twisting
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Consistently throughout the day
