We are currently seeking a dedicated Sandblaster / Surface Preparer to join a dynamic team in Scarborough, Ontario. Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare varied surfaces for painting by thoroughly cleaning, sanding, removing rust or old coatings, and masking specific areas to ensure a pristine finish
  • Operate industrial sandblasting equipment to effectively remove paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt from metal parts, motors, and chassis
  • Maintain proper control of pressure and direction of abrasive materials to prevent damage to underlying surfaces while ensuring effective cleaning
  • Load abrasive materials, such as sand or grit, into hoppers and strictly monitor levels to maintain a consistent flow during operations
  • Lift, carry, and position heavy parts and equipment onto racks, into barrels, or into blasting cabinets, adhering to safe lifting protocols
  • Prepare a wide variety of parts for the paint shop, specifically focusing on motors, chassis, and general surface preparation tasks
  • Perform routine maintenance on sandblasting equipment, including cleaning the machinery and replacing worn nozzles to ensure operational efficiency
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, reporting or correcting any unsafe working conditions immediately to the supervisor
  • Perform other general labour tasks and duties as assigned to support the manufacturing & logistics team

Requirements:

  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted and handle heavy parts regularly
  • Mobility: Capable of occasional kneeling, stooping, or bending when placing or adjusting parts or machines
  • Safety First: A strong commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of WHMIS or industrial safety standards
  • Reliability: Punctual and dependable attendance is required for the 7:00 AM start time
  • Experience: Previous experience in metal finishing, or sandblasting is required
  • Proven experience with sandblasting, surface preparation, or industrial cleaning equipment is highly preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate machinery and power tools safely
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail to ensure surfaces are prepped without damage
