Job Description

SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term roles starting as soon as possible. These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEND Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings in Hertford and the surrounding areas.

Job Responsibility

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs including ASD, SEMH, MLD and SLD
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individual support plans
  • Encourage pupil engagement and participation in learning activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies consistently

Requirements

  • Has experience supporting children with SEND in educational settings
  • Demonstrates resilience, empathy and a calm approach to challenging behaviour
  • Is confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Holds relevant training or qualifications (e.g. Team Teach, Step On, CACHE Level 2/3)
  • Is committed to promoting pupil well-being and progress
