As a salvage master you can make your mark in the dynamic and high-stakes field of marine salvage, managing emergency response - and wreck removal projects. Your mission is to protect the environment while safeguarding the vessel and its cargo, often under intense and challenging conditions. Your will lead a team of dedicated salvage professionals that typically includes a salvage supervisor, an salvage engineer, a naval architect and other specialists tailored to the project's needs. Together, your focus will be on swiftly stabilizing situations, whether that means keeping a vessel afloat, extinguishing fires, coordinating tugs or managing fuel and cargo. Success in this role requires making critical decisions, acting decisively and always prioritizing safety. Job Responsibility:
Lead Salvage Operations: Manage the safe and successful execution of salvage projects ensuring they meet safety, quality, time and financial objectives as well as client and SMIT Salvage specifications
Project Planning: Oversee the preparation of operational salvage project plans to ensure readiness and efficiency
Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify and address risks during operations while proactively seeking opportunities to optimize project performance
Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track and report project progress to clients, local authorities and internal stakeholders. Develop and share close-out reports, including lessons learned, to enhance future operations
Quality and Safety Assurance: Up-hold high-quality standards and prioritize safety in all aspects of project execution
Team Deployment: Assess and manage the allocation of internal staff and hired personnel to ensure optimal team performance
Requirements:
You have completed a bachelor's degree in a nautical-technical direction
You have at least 10 years of work experience in the maritime industry or 5 years in a similar role as a salvage master
You are a strong analytical thinker, able to compile and analyze information by using a rationalistic and systematic approach to understand issues
You are a strong decision-maker, able to take decisions based on analysis, knowledge, experience and judgment
You have excellent problem solving skills, you analyze problems, identify solutions and take actions to prevent or solve the problem at hand
You have experience with financial reporting and budgeting
You have experience with cross-culture working and leadership
You have a perfect command of the English language in word and writing
