A large academic institution is seeking a skilled and strategic Salesforce Developer with expertise in Service Cloud to support and expand its existing Salesforce platform. This role will play a key part in optimizing Service Cloud features such as agent support, generic agent deployment, research documentation, and intelligent search functionalities. This developer will also contribute to a broader initiative to implement and standardize Salesforce usage across multiple organizations within the institution, offering technical leadership and support during this expansion.
Job Responsibility:
Further develop and enhance the existing Salesforce Service Cloud implementation with a focus on: Agent setup and optimization
Deployment of generic agents
Research documentation integration and workflows
Intelligent and federated search functionalities
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to align development with institutional needs
Serve as a subject matter expert for Service Cloud capabilities and best practices in a higher education environment
Develop custom Salesforce components (Apex classes, Lightning components, Flows, Visualforce, etc.) and integrate third-party tools where appropriate
Maintain platform scalability, security, and compliance across multi-organization use
Support user adoption through documentation, training, and troubleshooting
Partner with cross-functional teams to support reporting, analytics, and user feedback loops
Requirements:
5+ years of Salesforce development experience, with a primary focus on Service Cloud
Proven experience with agent deployment, intelligent search tools, and documentation systems within Salesforce
Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, security model, and governor limits
Experience with Lightning Web Components, Apex, Flows, and APIs
Ability to work across departments and collaborate in a complex, multi-stakeholder academic environment
Experience supporting Salesforce in higher education, public sector, or research-focused institutions
Nice to have:
Salesforce certifications, such as Service Cloud Consultant or Platform Developer I/II
Experience working with multi-org environments or large-scale Salesforce rollouts
Familiarity with tools like Einstein Search, Knowledge Articles, or third-party support platforms
Background in or understanding of academic research administration or student services
