A growing CPG company is seeking a Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join its finance team in a hybrid work environment. This role is critical to ensuring compliance across multi‑state operations and will serve as a subject‑matter expert for all sales and use tax matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who wants ownership of sales & use tax functions while enjoying schedule flexibility and long‑term growth.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare, review, and file sales & use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
  • Manage taxability determinations for products, services, and exemptions
  • Support audits, notices, and inquiries related to sales & use tax
  • Partner with accounting, operations, and sales teams to ensure accurate tax application
  • Maintain and improve sales & use tax processes, documentation, and controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA‑track preferred)
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing
  • Experience with multi‑state taxation, sales/use tax, and corporate tax filings
  • Proficient in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
  • Familiarity with inventory costing and transactional accounting
  • Proven, hands‑on sales & use tax experience (manufacturing environment strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of multi‑state tax regulations and compliance requirements
  • Detail‑oriented professional who can work independently in a hybrid setting
