Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves managing multi-state tax compliance, overseeing complex filings, and providing expert guidance on tax-related matters. The position requires a proactive individual with strong technical expertise and attention to detail, as well as the ability to navigate diverse business operations.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the primary expert on Sales & Use tax compliance across multiple states
  • Manage and review intricate state tax filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations
  • Reconcile tax filings generated by Vertex O Series with the general ledger, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Respond to internal queries regarding product and service taxability, offering clear and accurate guidance
  • Provide support for quoting and billing processes, ensuring compliance and protecting profit margins
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain operational continuity during transitional periods
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics and Vertex O Series to streamline tax processes and reporting
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly sales tax filings and reconciliations
  • Maintain detailed documentation and records to support audits and compliance initiatives

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in multi-state Sales & Use tax compliance
  • Proficiency with Vertex O Series or similar tax software is highly preferred
  • Strong ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to operational scenarios
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and general ledger systems
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience with homegrown systems and navigating complex business environments is a plus
