Job Description:

The Sales Training Manager, Oncology is a highly motivated and results-oriented individual who is responsible for the day-to-day execution of tasks and processes related to training, including: developing the market landscape and product knowledge, messaging, selling skills, and territory management expertise of new sales hires, existing Oncology Sales Specialists and Senior Oncology Sales Specialists. The Sales Training Manager, Oncology helps identify training gaps, collaborates on solutions, and ensures alignment of goals between field teams, management, and leadership. This individual also has dotted line oversight of Field Sales Trainers (FSTs), coordinating consistent in-territory support for new hires. By combining structured new hire onboarding, field travel, and coaching, this role directly supports sales performance and professional growth. Working closely with the Director of Sales Training, Oncology, this position ensures consistency of messaging across departments, supports management’s OKRs, and helps establish accountability and drive performance for the sales team. This role enhances the effectiveness of the sales organization by equipping team members with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to excel. Through consistent coaching, training, and collaboration with FST’s and leadership, the Sales Training Manager, Oncology drives accountability, strengthens sales execution, and contributes to the company’s overall growth. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role reporting directly to the Director of Sales Training, Oncology.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with the Director of Training to design, implement, and deliver consistent, concise, and clear training materials and messaging to the sales team, including but not limited to: new hire training, bi-weekly oncology training topics, product launches, and national/regional sales meetings
  • Lead the onboarding process for new sales team members, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed from day one
  • Maintain and update training pathways and continuing education courses within ShowPad or other LMS to ensure alignment with the company’s sales strategy, product offerings, and market demands
  • Field rides and performance coaching for new hires and established sales members
  • Cross functional collaboration with sales leadership, analytics, marketing, Client Services, and other departments as needed, to ensure alignment of new training content
  • Manage logistics for in person new hire training programs
  • Support the upkeep of the Sales Training ChatBot with accurate, timely information
  • Lead/co-lead workshops and training activities at regional and national meetings, as well as New Hire Training sessions, under the direction of the Director of Training
  • Schedule regular touchpoints with FSTs to roll out new messaging, provide product updates, gather feedback on training needs, and field insights
  • Develop and streamline processes for FST utilization, ensuring consistent understanding of their role and optimizing Sales Specialist–FST pairings for field rides based on skills and territory needs
  • Compile and deliver best practices to support management and field sales teams
  • Utilize feedback from sales leadership and reps, as well as performance data, to continuously improve and refine all training initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Director of Training and Legal to ensure all training content and messaging align with company objectives and remain compliant with legal requirements
  • Proven ability to work independently, demonstrating exceptional project management, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Occasional work outside normal 8am-5pm hours to accommodate different time zones
  • Requires approximately 40% travel for field rides, in-person training, company meetings

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a field sales representative in oncology diagnostics with proven track record of success and strong knowledge of our space
  • Experience in sales training, preferably within the oncology diagnostics space and/or experience as Field Sales Trainer or similar role
  • Strong clinical and technical acumen regarding oncology diagnostic testing and cancer genomics
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and develop the sales team by providing targeted, constructive feedback and hands-on guidance
  • Go-getter attitude that excels in project and deadline management while juggling multiple, high-priority training initiatives
  • Ability to quickly learn video-editing platforms and Showpad or similar learning platforms
  • Excels at managing multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating exceptional planning skills while remaining adaptable to last-minute changes
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, business, or related field
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory preferred
