Job Description:

The Sales Tax Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all sales tax compliance activities within the organization. This role ensures accurate and timely sales tax filings, manages audits and exemption certificates, and provides guidance on tax regulations. The Sales Tax Supervisor plays a critical part in supporting business operations through expertise in sales and use tax matters.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervise sales and use tax compliance, including preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns
  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of exemption certificates and tax records
  • Monitor changes in sales and use tax regulations and communicate relevant updates to internal teams
  • Coordinate and support sales tax audits and respond to audit inquiries or notices from tax authorities
  • Provide guidance to staff and business units on taxability of transactions and proper application of sales tax
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance sales tax compliance and reporting efficiency
  • Ensure tax filings and payments are submitted accurately and on time to avoid penalties or interest
  • Prepare reconciliations related to sales and use tax accounts
  • Train and mentor team members on sales tax matters and best practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience in sales and use tax compliance, with some supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations and multi-state tax requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with accounting software and tax research tools
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines
