The Sales Manager - Market is a pivotal member of our Sales Leadership team who is responsible for leading the implementation of sales objectives and strategies aimed at empowering a highly capable and agile team of strategic salespeople to cut through competitors, develop uncompromising business relationships, identify, and win new business opportunities and generate stronger growth with our key customers. The key focus and major component of the role is to be within the field actively leading the sales team as well as actively selling. The Sales Manager will ensure every Major Account Manager is armed with a strong, innovative, and agile strategic account plan for execution and readiness to win and outperform competitors.
Job Responsibility:
Lead from the front: Champion our Safety-First culture across all customer and team interactions
Drive team performance: Motivate and guide a geographically dispersed team to achieve sales targets, increase market share, and execute strategic growth plans
Be in the field: Spend the majority of your time with the team and customers — influencing key decision-makers, identifying growth opportunities, and closing deals
Sales strategy execution: Implement targeted strategic account plans that strengthen relationships, outpace competitors, and maximise revenue
Customer engagement: Build and maintain strong business partnerships with key accounts, understanding customer needs and delivering value-based solutions
Data-driven leadership: Leverage CRM insights and sales data to track activity, identify trends, and improve team productivity
Win new business: Lead the pursuit of new opportunities and oversee the delivery of commercially sound, customer-centric solutions
Drive brand strength: Collaborate with marketing to implement campaigns and brand strategies that enhance our presence in the market
Embed sales excellence: Ensure the team rigorously delivers the Coates value proposition and consistently communicates our competitive edge
Requirements:
10+ years’ experience in sales and major account management, ideally in industrial, construction, or B2B sectors
Proven ability to lead and develop a large, high-performing field sales team
Strong experience in strategic selling, negotiation, and influencing across all levels
Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic account plans
Outstanding commercial acumen and business planning skills
Advanced stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities
Tech-savvy, with experience using CRM and sales enablement tools to drive performance
