We are now looking for an experienced Sales Manager – Marine Automation to join our team in France. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded sales professional who wants to work in an international environment, drive growth in the marine automation segment, and contribute to the digital transformation of the industry.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and grow Valmet’s Marine Automation System business in France, focusing on DCS and automation solutions for marine applications
  • Identify, develop, and manage relationships with existing and new customers in the French maritime industry including C-Level (shipyards, vessel owners, and marine engineering firms)
  • Identify business opportunities and drive sales processes from lead generation to contract closure
  • Understand customer requirements and translate them into technical and commercial proposals, in collaboration with automation engineering teams
  • Support customers in selecting and implementing the best automation solutions to improve operational performance and compliance
  • Prepare forecasts, budgets, and market analyses for the assigned territory
  • Stay informed on market trends, regulations, and competitor activities within the marine automation segment
  • Collaborate closely with Service, Project Management, and Product teams to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term relationships
  • Travel regularly across France, primarily to shipyards in northern and southern regions, and occasionally to other European locations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the marine industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation and/or marine system sales (DCS, control systems, or related technologies)
  • Strong technical background in automation systems, ideally within marine or shipbuilding environments
  • Proven ability to manage complex sales cycles and build trusted customer relationships
  • Fluency in French and English are mandatory
  • Availability to travel within France (North and South shipyards, shipowners and engineering companies) and occasionally abroad
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach with strong communication and negotiation skills
