Job Description

We are currently working with a client that are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to work from their base in Birmingham. You will ideally come from a high-end joinery or construction background. You will be responsible for overseeing a small sales team and being strong in estimating.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing sales and advertising to generate quality enquiries and orders
  • Driving business development aligned with company goals
  • Overseeing the Estimating Department’s workload, staff, and processes
  • Supporting tender discussions, negotiations, and pricing strategies
  • Collaborating with the Contracts Team on enquiries and pricing approaches
  • Managing order databases and occasionally taking direct responsibility for contracts
  • Generate and manage sales leads to secure quality orders
  • Support the Estimating Department with sufficient workload
  • Track and report monthly orders and projections
  • Ensure tenders meet requirements and deadlines
  • Develop competitive tender strategies and review pricing
  • Handle sub-contract enquiries and manage tender follow-ups
  • Manage the Estimating Department staff, including training and HR processes
  • Work with the Contracts Team to develop effective pricing and tendering strategies
  • Occasionally manage contracts directly, ensuring all functions continue to operate smoothly
  • Use systems for estimating, production, order confirmation, and financial tracking
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
