The Sales Engineer APAC is responsible for accelerating Kennametal’s diversification into markets and applications offering large growth opportunities. The Sales Engineer APAC will be responsible for the sales opportunities that concern mainly Evaporator Boats coming from our facilities in China, and will have a territory responsibility in APAC (TBD based on location and language skills). Ceramics in APAC is a $26M business and is part of a global ceramics business of $60M. The position will provide direction and support to global management in identifying opportunities for growth, required investments and long-term planning to accomplish this growth and will collaborate with the sales, production, engineering, or research and development departments to determine how solutions could be made or modified to suit the needs of the customer.
Job Responsibility:
Customer focused to maintain existing relationships and grow new ones to reach sales objectives
Support global management in sales forecasting, plan preparation, sales inventory, quality notifications, receivables collection, credit notes
Report on sales in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales and market information into CRM
Contributes and support customer service team in prices list preparation and follow-up
Support marketing in ad-hoc projects (e.g. pricing, value proposition)
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks
Drive the Kennametal cultural beliefs of Customer First, Everyone Matters, Own It, Be Bold, Focus Now
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred Master’s Degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, Business Administration or related discipline required as a minimum
5+ years of sales and sales leadership experience
Proven commercial understanding with a track record of developing and executing commercial strategies and action plans
Experience in managing and traveling in APAC markets is an advantage
An In-depth understanding of the manufacturing industry and concepts associated with machining
Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
Strong business and commercial acumen
Strong influencing skills and executive presence
A process-oriented mindset supported in applying sales productivity tools and systems (CRM, SAP, etc.)
Team-player but also has ability to be a self-starter
Structured and analytical style of working
Excellent IT skills (MS Office, SAP)
Fluent English in speaking and writing
Willingness to travel frequently including staying overnight
Able to cooperate effectively on different levels externally and on lateral level KMT internally
Excellent planning skills
