A Queanbeyan based company is seeking a focused Sales and Operations Lead to manage the intersection of sales and internal logistics. This role is responsible for driving new business through research and outreach, managing the quoting process, and providing operational oversight to ensure the sales team meets its objectives. They operate in the fire safety sector where responsiveness is critical. The successful candidate will be a disciplined professional who can manage high-volume administrative tasks while maintaining accountability across the sales department.
Job Responsibility
Identify and gain new business opportunities, as well as capitalise on opportunities for growth with current customers
Initiate contact with key decision-makers and secure formal appointments
Manage the full life cycle of quotes for the cabinet product category, including preparation, lead follow-up, and order processing
Monitor quote expiration dates, perform necessary re-quotes, and ensure all records are accurate and current
Oversee the sales inbox with a focus on speed. Ensure all customer inquiries are addressed promptly and professionally
Track individual and team progress against established sales targets to ensure the department remains on schedule
Conduct regular reviews of sales activities to ensure outreach protocols and follow-up standards are being met
Review the sales pipeline to identify bottlenecks or stagnant leads, providing the team with the direction needed to move opportunities forward
Identify and resolve operational issues that hinder the sales team's efficiency, ensuring they have the tools and data required to succeed
Taking an innovative approach and supporting team growth and development
Act as a first point of contact for technical queries, resolving basic issues and escalating complex matters to the technical team (training provided)
Assist in monitoring safety and compliance standards to ensure all operations align with industry regulations
Requirements
Excellent attention to detail, a proactive mindset with a good understanding of what drives business
Minimum 3 years within construction, building materials, or trade services sales/consultancy is desirable
A positive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow within the role - consultative sales experience is a requirement
Ability to oversee and support the sales team, proven experience with team leadership
Comfortable reviewing sales data and metrics to drive team performance
Strong negotiation skills, the ability to build trust and rapport with a focus on long-term relationship building rather than 'transactional' sales
Strong knowledge of workplace safety and safety operations
