Our Lithium team is currently seeking expressions on interest from experienced Safety Superintendents looking for their next challenge. The position will be in a FIFO capacity, and you will be required to work on an 5:2,4:3 roster, leading a team of site-based HS&T professionals. The Safety Superintendent is responsible for ensuring timely, efficient effective safety support services to the project Site and coaching and mentoring the HSET Team. The position co-ordinates and participates in safety and environment audits and inspections activities to help continuously improve, maintain, and implement better and more user-friendly operating systems on site.
Job Responsibility:
Report, investigate and manage health, hygiene, hazard and incident issues in line with site plans, company procedures and reporting timeframes
Support the site to achieve or exceed safety performance KPIs
Assist with hazard identification, risk assessments and the implementation of effective safety controls and strategies
Monitor incident trends and safety data to help improve site safety performance
Support injury management and return to work processes in consultation with the site team
Audit contractors and work areas to ensure compliance with company safety standards and legislative requirements
Maintain site safety registers and compliance records
Communicate effectively with key stakeholders on safety matters, performance, targets and improvements
Implement and support company safety systems, processes and the Critical Risk Management program on site
Participate in field interactions, coaching and mentoring personnel in safe work practices
Conduct workplace inspections, audits and compliance checks as required
Support compliance with health and safety policies, standards, procedures and relevant legislation
Support emergency response readiness and assist with incident and near miss reporting and investigations
Coordinate safety training, site inductions and other required compliance training for personnel
Liaise with regulators and statutory bodies when required
Requirements:
Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, plus CPR
C Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
ICAM Lead Investigator
Lead Auditor Qualifications
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Established experience in safety management within mining sector
Incident Investigation and Reporting (ICAM or Taproot)
Knowledge of Risk Management and Loss Prevention techniques
Experience in the development and implementation of safety management systems
Experience in the practical application of safety in a heavy industrial/mining industry
Sound knowledge and understanding of Western Australia Occupational Health and Safety, Workers' Compensation Legislation, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice
Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
