The Safety Specialist assists in the development, implementation, and oversight of project-specific safety programs to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and subcontractors. By collaborating closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and corporate safety leadership, the Safety Specialist monitors compliance, investigates incidents, and provides guidance on risk mitigation to protect people, property, and project outcomes—supporting ANDRES’ continued success Houston and across Texas.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in developing, implementing, and overseeing project-specific safety programs
Assist Project Superintendents and Project Managers in developing safe work plans
Lead the project team in supervising, coordinating, and implementing site-specific safety programs and risk assessments
Prepare and update site-specific safety policies
Facilitate project-specific safety training
Conduct site-specific orientation programs
Maintain knowledge of OSHA and company safety requirements
Conduct and document regular safety inspections
Accompany OSHA and insurance inspectors during audits
Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and compliance
Understand and apply principles of Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP)
Document and investigate all incidents
Set up and maintain incident reports electronically
Perform claims management
Track incident claim report status
Provide guidance on trends and corrective actions
Ensure proper project start-up with safety postings
Maintain a safe work environment
Frequently walk the jobsite to monitor compliance
Physically navigate active construction sites
Collaborate with Corporate Safety Director and Regional Safety Managers
